Folger’s would make the claim that it was the best part of waking up but without a single drop of whiskey, I would beg to differ.
Begin your day with a good Irish Coffee however and you will set the tone for the next six hours until your day ends again. Your spirits will soar even while your productivity flounders.
Ingredients:
4 oz strong coffee or espresso
1 ½ oz Jameson Irish Whiskey
2 tsp sugar
2 oz heavy cream
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, add heavy cream and whisk until soft peaks form.
Add 1 tsp sugar and mix until dissolved.
Set aside.
Prepare coffee using desired method (French press works well, just make it strong).
Add water to a small sauce pot and bring to simmer.
Add hot water (reserving some in the sauce pot) to a footed mug, or your vessel of choice to preheat the glass.
Pour 1 ½ oz Jameson Irish Whiskey into a shot glass and place the shot glass into the hot water to heat the whiskey.
Discard the hot water from the mug and pour in the hot coffee and whiskey.
Stir in 1 tspn sugar until dissolved.
Top with lightly whipped cream and serve immediately.
